Gardening season comes to norther hemisphere! If you are growing quite a lot of plants, you need to write down which one is which, otherwise you will mix up up your plants. It happens to me sometimes 😅
I have tried many ideas to mark up my plants:
- Write name on pot with a white pen
- Write name on a piece of tape and stick it on pot
- Cut a small piece of water-resistant paper such as a milk carton and write name on it.
- Cut a small piece of yogurt or other plastic container and write name on it.
Reusing plastic cups and milk cartons is a good idea, but I was annoyed by a lot of small waste when replanting plants in the garden and at the end of the season. Writing names on tape and sticking it to pots also has the same problem. It would be nice if they could be bury in soil ...
So this year I decided to use small wooden sticks to mark up plants. It's like a short version of the wooden muddler that comes with the coffee at a cafe.
I bought them at a craft store, but they are cheaper at online stores for cafes and restaurants. I may save them when I buy coffee outside or we eat ice cream at home this year 😊

北半球では春夏野菜の種まきを始めたという人も多いと思います。特にいろいろ育てている場合、どれがなになのか書いておかないと、植物が混ざって大変なことになります。
これまでいろいろなアイディアを試しました：
- ポットに白いペンで書く
- テープに名前を書いてポットに貼る
- 牛乳パックなどの耐水性紙を小さく切ってそこに書く
- ヨーグルトなどのプラスチック容器を小さく切ってそこに書く
プラスチックカップや牛乳パックを再利用するのはアイディアとしてはよいのですが、庭で植え替える時やシーズンの終わりに細かいゴミがたくさん出るのが難点です。テープに名前を書いてポットに貼るのも同様にゴミ問題が。。
そのまま土に埋められたらいいのに・・・ということで、今年は小さな木の棒を使うことにしました。コーヒーを買うとついてくる木製のマドラーの短い版といった感じです。
手芸屋さんで買いましたが、カフェやレストラン向けのお店で買うと安いですね。あとは外でコーヒーを飲んだ時やアイスの棒をとっておいてもよさそうです。
