This is a rose study I have made. I took the photo of the rose myself and tried to replicate it as realistic as I could on paper. I am drawn by the look of botanical illustration therefore picking watercolour pencils mostly for this project was ideal.
I started with sketching the shape and a very soft lightwash.
I added colour very slowly as I wanted to make sure that I keep the highlights.
I also used classical watercolor for some portions to see what I prefer the most. The watercolour pencils are fun to use and the time for drying is a bit faster.
Painting drops of rain is definetely a task for someone who has a lot of patience. I had plenty of time and calm in order to draw each little drop.
