Interesting that you mention nihilism, I have encountered a lot of people dealing with it. Especially from our generation. It is so ferocious that it takes the joy out of living, leaving a sense of inner void.
Your mention of technology is important. Family is no longer paramount because with social media it looks like there is always the next best thing. And the next best thing. And genuine connection has turned into a chasing rabbit game. There is no more will to get to know the other, to prioritize them instead of sitting on the phone. Loyalty also suffered as there are too many that are in relationships and also scrolling on Tinder. Fake. A lack of authenticity is an issue. People are not connected with themselves and therefore not with others.
What does it mean to dream, to love, to live? Sadly, fewer humans know the answer to these questions without feeling an inner vacuum. I hope that it will be better. But who knows... There is a general feeling of not finding genuine connection and technology definetely doesn't help if it is not well managed. I have seen people prefering to sit on the phone rather than spending time with a loved one. Sometimes... That person is in the same room. Imagine how invisible and hurt millions of people feel now as we speak...
