Hello Cent platform! It's another time to discuss on issues about life and how we can learn new from already existing one. Good afternoon!
The question is why is wisdom attributed to old people? I've observed my dad keep quiet in a matter that's very important and needs his immediate response. I've also observed some old people who give listening hear to people whenever they talked.
Where I come from, they usually say that common sense is not common. This is because it takes some level of experiences in life for one exhibit a high level of responsibility.
It is also said where I come from that what an old man see seating down, a young man can't see even if he climbs an iroko tree.
The reason why the older people exhibit wisdom is simply because of their experiences in life. Naturally, life has a way of presenting difficulties to people and at the initial stage, it'll look as if the individual is suffering and may not survive such a situation, but as time went on, those experiences becomes an avenue to advise younger people who face such situations in the future.
Wisdom simply means the ability to apply knowledge. If this is true then one can be able to apply his or her experience in order for others not to fall into such situations.
Experience they say is the best teacher, but I say that obeying and seeking advise from elderly people can make you avoid bad experience and lead you to early success in life.
It has been argued by many that experience isn't in one's age and that age is just a number. Maturity actually isn't in the age of a person but in the ability of an individual to act accordingly.
There are some old and elderly people that speak like children and they lack wisdom and there are young people who are very matured and when they speak you'll see wisdom exhibited.
I'll conclude by saying that, wisdom is usually attributed to the elderly but not all elderly people are wise.
Thanks!
