Lately I have been hearing soo much about depression and people giving up their lives and leaving their loved ones behind, shattered.
People go trough depression due to various reasons and circumstances in their lives. Below are few of them.
Professional life:
Life has becomes tough. The daily struggle to survive and be in the race to achieve ones goals has led to major disappointment when one fails to conquer it. In the process he feels worthless and a failure in life. Many give up their dreams and lose all the positivity resulting in Depression.
Losing Family & Friends:
We humans have this beautiful Powerful gift called “feelings”. But if we fail to Understand & control it, it will lead to heartache. Losing a family member or a friend, or being mistreated & ignored by family or friends can lead to major depression. No matter how much we fight with them, family & friends and very much important to us. When we lose one or get ignored it hurts bad, real bad which leads to depression in many. As they can let go of it and move on it life.
Financial Trouble:
This is the major cause I would say. As mentioned before, life is tough and there are gains and losses. But the losses impact a lot. We have family to take care of, need to have food on the plate, need to pay school fees & soo much more and when pockets are empty it creates a chaos in our mind. We don’t know what will happen, how this day will pass & what tomorrow will have in store for us. We end up taking loan, then get harassed to pay to loan back. Always stay in fear and guilt which eventually leads to depression.
Childhood trauma:
When we were young, many of us have gone trough various negative phases in our lives. From being bullied to getting molested to watching our parents fight and so on. This has impacted us in a serious manner over the years. The memories linger & no matter how hard we try it comes back to haunt us.
There are many many many more reasons for depression. I can go on and on about it. Discussing the causes of depression is important but what’s more important is how to manage it or help someone getting over it.
The most important is to speak. Yes friends we need to be open about it. Be there for our family and friends. Go and ask everyone we know how they are doing, is anything bothering them. Make them feel warm, tell them you are there for them.
We get soo busy we don’t realize what others are going trough around us. We don’t even have the tome to check on them. We see their happy profile pic on Facebook and assume they are doing great. But pictures don’t define the state of mind. Just because one is smiling doesn’t mean he/ she is happy. That smile can be deceiving.
So my friends I would request you to please pick up the phone. Call your friends & family. Ask them how they are doing. As them if they need anything or something is bothering them. Just a message which says “I am always there for you” makes a huge difference.
Let’s fight this together and make a difference. The cure to depression is not medicines, the cure is love, hugs, emotional support. So pick up that phone and heal the ones who need you.
