Game Recommendation – Alien: Isolation

"Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance."

I have to admit, this game is much better than anything I was expecting. It's satisfactory, as the disappointment of last year's Alien: Covenant movie still lingers.

The plot:

You start off looking for information on Ellen but slowly realize that things are not great on the space station. You learn of the Alien picking people off one by one while each and everyone of them is fending for themselves. The missions takes a U-turn for the worst sooner than expected turning into a "cat-and-mouse chase with the scariest cat imaginable". Killer androids controlled by the station's AI show up as well to spice things up. By the end your only goal is to get off the station by any means necessary.

Pros:

There are many notes, messages, tapes, etc. that add to the story, you only need look for them.
The controls are great, the map is very accessible, collecting resources is easy and fast.
The AI is very smart and unpredictable which makes the game challenging and the experience genuine.
The Alien is unforgiving and you have to avoid it rather than take it on guns blazing.

Cons:

Not that much is explained about the secondary characters; some feel like they are there just as a means to an end even though they play pretty important roles.
You cannot cancel any action that is in progress fast enough which may lead to getting caught.
The save points are not that well spread across the space station and the few seconds you have to wait before the game is actually saved is not really necessary.
When exiting a closet you make a lot of noise that the Alien does not hear, yet it hears your footsteps; that doesn't make much sense.

Considering everything I'd say this game deserves a rating of 8.5/10. But don't take my word for it, experience it for yourselves.
