Sad day today as the first lemon cucumber I started growing had to go.

It did grow large and took over other plants' territory but this wasn't the main reason.

Lots of its large leaves were in constant contact with the greenhouse walls, others were touching or growing on the tomato vines and some sort of disease started affecting it.

The tens of flowers that fell off were also turning furry wherever they landed, lots were on other plants, affecting their leaves.

So a choice had to be made, the lemon cucumber lost in the end.

This is the corpse of a single plant. Yuuuge.

This is how that area looks now, so much cleaner, lots of air space and I can easily layer the tomato plants now.

Before being dispatched to the compost pile it still provided me with one last harvest!

I think I will try to find out how well these yellow tennis balls pickle.

In conclusion, please join me in raising a glass to honour the fallen!

Thanks guys
