My greenhouse is getting emptier now and gone are the days of it being a jungle but I'm still going to have a few more weeks of toms.
The autumn is making more victims and my last cucumber was removed from the greenhouse today. It didn't have any new flowers and all the fruit matured so there was no point in keeping it in anymore. Its roots found their way to the drainage pipe; they didn't clog anything up so that wasn't an issue.
The roots are looking pretty good.
Lovely last crop of lemon cucumbers from that plant.
Trying to clean the pebbles so I can reuse them, not quite sure how I'm going to do it. So far I just put them into a tub with water thinking the roots and other veg matter would float, but that's not happening.
Got an empty line of buckets now, I'm thinking of planting some lettuce, spinach or other fast growers that tolerate the dropping temps, not sure yet.
And now about the beer... I planned to do a blackberry beer this autumn, but I was lazy and missed my window so the blackberries were gone too far to use. I'm not quite sure how I thought this would be a good idea but... I've decided to use tomatoes instead of blackberries. I roasted them and chucked them in the beer, what can go wrong?
A week later and here we are. And no, the green stuff on top isn't pesto or basil, I didn't go quite that far, heh. It's hops.
Can't say it doesn't have a good colour, the toms played a role in this as the beer base is a light wheat ; it doesn't taste bad, I'll just have to see how it matures after I bottle it.
Cheers for having a look!
