Today, I'll be talking about classes in TF2, my favourite builds on them, and some general thoughts.
I think of myself as a Scout main, usually. Between the Jungle Inferno update and the switch onto my laptop, I've definitely gotten worse, but I still find Scout fun (if only for the speed). My usual build consists of the Shortstop, the Flying Guillotine and the Sandman (hence why the update caused trouble- the Sandman no longer stuns enemies, it just slows them a bit, so fighting, say, Snipers or Heavies is a lot tougher now).
I've had some pretty good lives as the Soldier, but honestly I wouldn't call myself good. I can't rocket jump for the life of me, and I could be better at aiming in general. The lack of speed also upsets me- Soldier is the second slowest class, so switching from the Scout to the Soldier is a big change. Lately, I've been using the Black Box, the Shotgun and the Disciplinary Action. That said, I'm also a fan of the Direct Hit, and I have another loadout based around the Air Strike- I mostly use the Black Box as I have a nice-looking Jungle Inferno one (worth a whole $0.25 CAD).
There are two reasons I don't play Pyro more often. Firstly- people usually think of Pyro as being the least skilled class. This doesn't really bother me, to be honest. The real reason I don't play is that my brother does. He's way better than I am, and there's no point in us both playing the same class, so I don't. I am alright as Pyro, though- I can't always deflect rockets reliably, but I'm better than the stereotypical Pyro player. I mainly use the Backburner (if not default), the Scorch Shot and, depending on the map, either the Backscratcher or the Neon Annihilator.
Honestly, I'm pretty awful as Demo. I can't aim my grenades, I can't time my stickies well enough for anything but setting traps, and I'm not great with melee duels. I say this mostly because I've seen some Demos that are really good- and as a Scout, there's little I can do to stop them (especially since I can no longer stun them). When I do play Demo, I usually like to use either the default Grenade Launcher or the Iron Bomber, along with the Tide Turner and the Eyelander. Even though I can't get melee kills reliably, I find the mobility more useful than stickies (though I really should switch to the Chargin' Targe).
I used to be good at the Heavy. In fact, I got a Strange Brass Beast because I was so good with it. But then I played Scout for a while, got used to the mobility, and now I'm horrid at Heavy. The only time I really play as him any more is when I'm friendly, or if it's part of a plan (like being pocketed, or an all-Heavy team). I tend to use the Brass Beast, the Sandvich and the Conscientious Objector (an all-class sign- mine says "Give peace a chance", for when I'm friendly).
I'm decent as the Engie- though it's not exactly a hard class, in all fairness. My biggest problem is that I get bored just sitting there, waiting for kills (unless I'm playing with people who can entertain me), so I tend to play very aggressively. I have done a lot as Engie though- my brother, cousin and I used to all build a "nest" together, and we'd get really good scores. My current build is the Widowmaker, and the default Pistol and Wrench (or the Gunslinger, if the situation calls for it).
This is a class I don't play often, but I quite like. Usually, I'll only go Medic if I have a friend to pocket. I'm not the best Medic, of course, but I've gotten fairly good at avoiding enemies while healing people. I use the default items, though sometimes I'll switch out my Bonesaw for an Übersaw. The one thing I can't do, though, is play combat Medic- I've seen some people who are really good at it, but when I try, I'm lucky if I get more than one kill.
I'm gonna be blunt- I hate Snipers. They don't really add much to the game- just a chance to double your respawn timer, essentially (considering I mostly play 2Fort). I only ever play this class when I'm really upset with the enemy team- I can sorta channel my anger and somehow aim really well. There is something worth noting though- I don't consider Huntsman Snipers to be the same class. They're completely respectable, and actually I used to be good with the Huntsman too. Rather than just sitting in a corner clicking on people, Huntsman Snipers actually leave the base and play the game. I still use the Huntsman (well, technically, a strange Fortified Compound, but it's functionally the same), as well as the Razorback and the Tribalman's Shiv.
I am really bad with the Spy, to be honest. I can never seem to line up backstabs (whereas some people can get them from the side, or even the front), and I'm not good at remaining undetected while disguised or cloaked. On the other hand, I'm pretty good at recognising enemy Spies, so maybe it's not just me... Generally, I use the Ambassador, the default Knife (though sometimes the Conniver's Kunai or the Big Earner), the Cloak and Dagger and either sapper.
Anyways, that's gonna be it for today, so hopefully you enjoyed this post! If you'd like to know more about any one class, let me know!
