Well, I've got a few things to talk about, but then I wouldn't want to bore y'all with different things. So, I will have to stick to just one. And guess what that is... Teaching. Well it's just interesting and surprising at the same time that I have found teaching easy to learn. I very well understand how tasking, hard, and uneasy teaching might be, and even though I still haven't fallen in love with it as a profession, I can very well tell you that I've found it easy.
The only thing I just need to do is to study and understand, once I've been able to do that, explaining it even in very simple terms and easier ways for others to understand is easy for me. And I'm being serious with you. When I was about to start teaching ay my PPA, the principal told me then that it won't be that hard for me, even after telling him that I have no prior experience of teaching. Still, he insisted and even said from the way I'm speaking with him, he can tell that I only need to visit a class once or remember how I was being taught by my most loved teacher or lecturer too and that all would be easy.
And I very well understand him. Even though I've not really taught in a class before I know I've handled quiet a few tutorials where I explain things to my course mates, I've taken few Bible study lessons too, and I've had a number of times I've had to calm people down, advise them and all of that. I believe it all counts as teaching too.
But then, when we talk about something I'm surprisingly bad at, something that seems hard for me, I would say it is believing in myself. It's not as easy and as simple as it sounds. I believe in myself but then, there are times fear, doubts and the likes sets in and I can't just help but feel somehow about whatever situation I'm in. Even if it's something I know I can do, something I've prepared very well for, I would still feel, what if? Just what if?
You know the most funniest thing, I teach and tell others to believe and trust in themselves, I tell others to always remain positive and have confidence in themselves, while I'm here losing that same confidence in myself.
I'm still learning though, I'm still learning to believe in myself, I'm still learning to encourage myself, I'm still learning and at the same time unlearning the things that are holding me back. And for both what I'm surprisingly good at and that which I'm surprisingly bad at, I'm trying to put both together, see my strength and how that when I understand a thing I can make it easy for others, while also seeing myself struggling and trying to give myself just the same understanding.
Like I said earlier, there are a lot of things I've found easy to learn and some I've found hard to learn. But then, at the end of the day, I'm still a work in progress. That's what I usually say. I'm a work in progress. I'm still learning, unlearning, and relearning and maybe, just maybe that is what a learning curve really is.
