Hi again everyone!

So as I accidentally learned today, The Binding of Isaac released a content update. I've spent an unfortunate amount of time trying to find all the new content I can, so I figure I should talk about some of my thoughts here. I will try to avoid spoilers, on the off-chance that anyone reading this plays the game (seeing as the update came out earlier today, the content isn't common knowledge yet). That said, if you really want an authentic experience with it, you should probably stop reading now, since I can only avoid saying so much.

Firstly- there are some small, trivial changes, but I find them strangely satisfying. Black hearts make a new sound when picked up. Stoneys have an animation for when they die, rather than just disappearing. Infestation 2 makes spiders pop out a little ways, rather than just appearing where the enemy was. These are just some of the ones I've found, and I'm sure there are more. They're just polish, really, and only the third of those things actually makes any gameplay difference, but they do a lot to make the game feel more finished.

There are a couple of new items added- I heard it was 8, though I'm a bit iffy on that. I haven't gotten many, but I have read about their effects, and in all honesty... They're not all that exciting. At this point, all the really unique ideas for items have been made to some extent, and everything new just feels like a slightly modified version of an existing item (for instance- Haemolacria is just a modified Ipecac). I won't complain though- even if the items aren't revolutionary, it's a bit more variety, and that's always nice. Honestly, it gets tiresome when every update to a game adds so many new, exciting things that the old content feels almost obsolete- I'm glad Isaac doesn't have this issue.

The update also adds some new enemies, and a boss. I don't know how many enemies were added, exactly- I've recognised 2 new ones so far, but I haven't seen them enough to fully understand what they do. As for the boss... Honestly, I was having a really good run, and they died in about 15 seconds. All I saw was a lot of Fistula pieces, followed by Chub, and a bunch of Brimstone lasers. I would assume they're just a boss version of the Fistuloid enemy, but I can't say for certain.

Most importantly though- the update adds a new character. I'll be honest, I found a guide on unlocking them. I felt guilty at first, but after playing as them a bit, I'm very glad I did it. It took maybe 90 minutes to do so- in part because I was very lucky with some items I got- and a further half hour of experimentation to figure out how exactly they work. All I can say at this point without spoiling anything is that I'm absolutely in love with this character. They have so many unique abilities, things that no other character can do, and the process of unlocking them feels so much more rewarding than the RNG you need to get The Lost. I've yet to win a run as them, which is probably largely my fault, but they're just so new and refreshing, I think they might be my favourite character for the time being.

Anyways, hopefully you enjoyed this post!
