Today, I'll be talking about some items in Isaac that I consider bad in nearly all situations.
It's an interesting effect- not unlike Chocolate Milk. Unfortunately, though, the "curse" part is real- if you take damage while charging a shot, you get teleported out of the room. This might not seem like a huge deal, so let me describe a situation- you spend 5 minutes fighting The Hush, only to take damage in the last minute of the fight, and get teleported out, forcing you to redo the fight- quite possibly with low health left. It could arguably be good on, say, The Lost- but if memory serves, losing Holy Mantle doesn't count as damage, and anything further would just be a death.
It can be nice having a tear delay of 1- you can shoot a ridiculous stream of tears. The problem is, Soy Milk lowers your damage significantly, meaning you need really good accuracy to have even a chance at dealing the same damage per second. It's useless with Brimstone too, since it's such a big damage down. There are only a few very specific builds that could work at all with Soy Milk, and truth be told, they'd be just as good, if not better, without it.
This one isn't as bad as the others- it's quite useful in a lot of situations, since it can deal so much damage. The problem is, it can deal a lot of damage to the player. On the other hand, Pyromaniac makes this item really useful. It's worth noting- all of these arguments can be applied to Curse of the Tower too. Both are items I only take in specific runs when I can either survive explosions or when I have enough health to get away with them.
This item is arguably worse than Soy Milk. The damage down isn't as drastic, but the tears up isn't as useful either. I don't believe it can take you below the usual limit like Soy Milk does, and tears up items aren't exactly uncommon, so it does little to help that you can't get easily from elsewhere. I would say it's okay for getting a low tear delay early on, but I much prefer having higher damage and lower tears (like, say, with Polyphemus).
Anyways, that's gonna be it for today- hopefully you enjoyed this post!
