I ended up taking a lot of Uber rides while in Vegas for the Steem Creator's Conference and they would all ask me and my sister 
This honestly kind of surprised me. I know that we are still on the bleeding edge of things - but I thought more people had at least heard the word before. After all, it has been all over the news lately. There were definitely a few Uber driver's that got passionate explanations from me!
My very last Uber ride to the airport ended up being a really cool experience. We started out with the usual speel of saying that we were in town for a cryptocurrency conference and she LIT UP. She said that she had been reading all about it lately and had just started investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum. She had a TON of questions and we had an amazing discussion in our 15-20 minute Uber drive to the airport where I was able to help answer her questions.
As we neared the airport, she mentioned that one of the most difficult things was that she wanted to invest more, but didn't have a lot of extra money every month to build her portfolio. This is where we started talking about Steemit and how she could actually earn cryptocurrency by posting content. We talked about all the different ways she could participate, from writing blog posts, to sharing photos on 
She was ecstatic.
I ended up writing down a bunch of information for her - including the Steemit website, our usernames, and my personal email address. I offered to walk her through the process and answer any questions she had getting started out.
I really hope that I hear from her and she decides to sign up. You wanna know the great thing though? Even if she doesn't right away, she just had a super positive experience about Steemit and cryptocurrencies in general. I was able to talk her through a lot of her fears about the volatile market and increase her confidence in blockchain technology.
During the Q&A segment of my presentation at the Steem Creators Conference - watch it HERE - someone asked me how we can get more "non-crypto" content creators on the platform. My response was not some huge marketing strategy or billboards - but reaching out to the people around us. We all know people who are already creating content for places like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertising, and they are way more likely to get involved in the platform if they already know someone who is here and can help them navigate the space.
I hope this story encourages us to take it one step further as well. Don't just be willing to reach out to the people in your life - but be open to discussing it with random people you meet - like your Uber driver! You never know how you will be able to impact them.
Steemit can literally change lives, and by just being willing to talk about it - you never know who you will impact. Maybe that Uber driver will start using the platform and earn enough from posting that she doesn't have to be so stressed about her daily finances anymore.
You never know when the opportunity to share the Power of Steem will come up - so be ready for it! Have an explanation prepared - and then be willing to step in and help that person out! You don't all have to give out her personal email addresses to random people like I did, but just be willing to engage in the conversation if they are interested.
I hope you guys enjoyed hearing my Uber story and maybe it encourages you to think about ways you can represent the platform when you are out and about living your daily lives.
