Social Media Challenge: Immortal Dragon Strategy
Hello Splinterfam! I'm back again for the weekly Social Media Challenge. For this week's challenge I decided to share a Strategy or a line up that is one of my favorite to run if given the chance. If you are new here, I only play on Silver League Modern Format so more likely the strategy I would be mostly sharing is for Silver only.
For this strategy, the main card or monster to use is a Dragon card Agor Longtail.
The silver level if this card is level 2 which would give stats of
- 3 melee attack
- 2 magic attack
- 3 speed
- 6 armor
- 13 health
with 15 mana cost it is not easy to fit it to a composition. But if the mana cap is high enough like 60-99, Agor Longtail is you go to tank, you can even use it in the backline because of its magic attack and its taunt ability, it can also serve as a second tank. With its Flying ability (Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability) So it became somewhat dodgy for non magic attackers and to answer the magic problem, Agor Longtail also have an ability called Void Armor (Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health).
I would like to this strategy the Immortal Dragon because the support monsters I use revives the dragon if it dies in battle. Let me share you a battle showing you the supremacy of this dragon.
The Rules were Counter Spell (All monster have the magic reflect ability) and Holy Protection (All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability), The splinters available to use were Fire, Water and Dragon with a 44 mana cap. I decided to use this strategy because of the Holy Protection rule which would proc multiple times if the monster is revived, which would mean the revived monster, more likely would be Agor Longtail will take 1 extra hit. And also I use Quix the Devious because he would more likely use range monsters because of the Counter Spell rule because Quix decreases the Range attack of monsters by 1.
The Line up I used was:
Quix The Devious: To decrease range attack of opponents monsters
Agor Longtail: To serve as tank and main damage dealer.
Tide Biter: Additional Damage which can attack from 2nd position because of its Reach ability.
Scavo Hireling: Support monster to repair armor of Agor Longtail increasing its survivability.
Oshuur Constantia: To revive Agor Longtail with its Resurrect ability.
River Hellondale: To revive Agor Longtail with its Resurrect ability and to increase melee attack of monsters because if its Inspire ability.
Venari wavesmith: To give to armor to further increase the survivability of Agor Longtail.
As you can see, the strategy is all about the survivability of Agor Longtail with the four monster supporting it and the other one to deal damage. I forgot to tell earlier that the armor provided by venari wavesmith returns to the revived monster so another additional survivability or more tankiness. I also use magic attacker monster because of the risk the opponent use quix too even if the rule set is countering my magic attacks, I figured out that the best bet is to use magic attacker. If you want to watch the battle you can Click this link here. It would take you directly to splinterlands.
This strategy is very fun to use, the only thing I could think of to counter this is if the the damage you receive to to much and Scattershot monsters making your Taunt ability useless and making them possible to kill your support monsters on the backline. Mana cap is also an issue because of the large mana cost dragons have you can not always use this strat. Another version of this strategy is the to use Life Monster, I think there are 3 cards who can use resurrect ability on the modern format so that would be a total of 4 resurrect if you include Oshuur.
