Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge: Molten Ash Golem

Hello Splinterfam! I'm back again for this week's Share your battle challenge featuring Molten Ash Golem. For those of you who are new here reading my blog, I mainly play on Modern Format Silver League only. So, basically I would cover only Silver League Modern format content here. Now to begin with, let's look at the stats of Molten Ash Golem.

  • Lore

~~ The Molten Ash Golems are birthed from a creature known as the Forgotten One. Created by the High Magus of the Crypteia and serving as his personal servant, the Forgotten One is a fiery beast of might and malice.

The Forgotten One's great power sometimes spills over, leaving trails of molten ash in its wake. And within these beats the strong enchantments the Magus originally put on his Forgotten One. Within a day, these piles of burning ash become sentient.

Rising from the ground and forming into loose humanoid shapes, these Molten Ash Golems have only one desire. Find their creator. They will travel the lands searching for the Forgotten One, never tiring and never needing to stop. Once reunited with their source, they serve faithfully for as long as they continue to burn.
The Molten Ash Golem shifted through the rugged mountain slopes. Leaving a burning trail behind it, it was driven on by the desire deep within the mana that fueled it. To find its creator and to serve.

The golem crested a boulder-strewn ridge and saw a lone figure standing only a few yards away. A towering creature of charcoal with burning magma lines running through it. It hefted an enormous sword easily in one hand. The golem knew what it was. The source of its own sentience. The Forgotten One.

The dark figure turned to stare at the Molten Ash Golem. And then it spoke in an echoing, deep voice.

“Come. The Magus calls for us.”

The golem followed.

Molten Ash Golem

  • Edition: Chaos Legion

  • Rarity: Rare

  • Element: Fire

  • Attack: Ranged

  • Abilities: Close Range (Obtains Weaken on level 5 and Demoralize on level 8)

  • Stats

If you look at the stats at max silver level which is level 4

  • Attack Damage 2
  • Speed 2
  • Armor 0
  • Health 10

It is a decent card because of its 6 mana cost. It has high health so it is somehow tanky and deals a fair amount of damage. The down side for me is its mediocre speed but hey I'm not complaining it is still good on a certain rule such as the Reverse speed. It can easily fit in every line up and serve as a second or even a third tank with its ability Close Range (Can perform ranged attacks from the first position).

  • Synergies

For the rule set, Molten Ash Golem is more effective in:

  • Target Practice - All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability. (Tanks incoming Range and Magic damage)
    image.png
  • Keep your Distance - Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles. (Since there is no melee monster this card can be used as a frontline tank or on second position to serve as second tank).

For Summoners, since Molten Ash Golem is a fire splinter and Ranged attacker Yodin is the best to use if able to because it synergizes well with Molten Ash Golem.

Yodin (To give all monster blast ability and increase ranged damage by 1)

  • Battle

Let's jump into battle wherein I used Molten Ash Golem. I always run Molten Ash Golem if the mana Cap is low like 20-30 because it loses its value on high mana cap battle because there are many alternative cards you can use that is much better than Molten Ash Golem.

The Rules were:
image.png

  • Counter Spell (All monsters have the Reflect ability)
  • Rise of the Commons (Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles)

54 mana cap with Fire, Earth, Life and, Dragon splinter available to use. When I first saw the rules I decided to go with Fire line up because there are to many good commons and rare monster cards on fire such as Ash Mirage and Tinderlock (New Riftwatchers fire cards). First I thought the opponent would use Ranged monster because of the Counter Spell Rule, so I decided to use a dragon summoner Quix the Devious to decrease my opponent's damage.

The Line up was:

  • Quix the Devious (Decrease opponent's Ranged attack and speed by 1)
  • Septic Slime (Tank with a Chance to stun Opponent)
  • Radiated Brute (To serve as a second tank who deals a decent damage)
  • Molten Ash Golem (To serve as a third tank because of its high health and fair enough damage and also it can attack once it is in the frontline, To tank the damage if ever opponent uses a Snipe monster)
  • Runic Skyclaw (To deal large damage and to target first the opponents healer and repair monsters if any)
  • Ash Mirage (To decrease damage of opponent's range attacking monster)
  • Tinderlock (To decrease magic of opponent's magic attacker if he decides to use any, Serves as backline tank in case opponent use sneak monsters. Damage dealer with a last stand ability to clutch if ever)

  • Conclusion

Molten Ash Golem is very easy to use and almost fit in to every line up. You can use it as a backline tank and a second tank as you can see on the battle above my strategy work because of my prediction that he would use ranged monster. The weakness of Molten Ash Golem for me is high speed monster because of its low speed, it would be very hard for it to hit speedy monsters. I like Molten Ash Golem for its tankiness and its close range ability, very useful especially in low mana cap battles.

That's it for this week's Share your Battle Challenge, Thank you everyone for those of you who gave their time reading this. Hope this helps and I'll see you on the next one.
