BRIEF STORY
2014 was the year. It was 2 p.m. on a Sunday during the summer vacation. I'm in my room, having finished my lunch. Nothing is on the television. I'm at a loss on what to do.
I'm tired of being bored.
I choose to read a book. Fortunately, it's Book 5 of the Harry Potter series, which happens to be my particular favourite.
"The warmest day of the summer was drawing to a close, and a dreamy silence fell over Penthouse Drive's enormous, square mansions."
"Son?" Mom inquires. (Did you have anything to eat?)
I scarcely notice anything. I'm too preoccupied with Harry's (nearly) soul-sucking ordeal to notice the bothersome ticking of the wall clock.
My stomach growls later, sometime in the midst of Chapter 8 ("The Hearing").
That's odd, to say the least. I just finished my meal a few hours ago.
I raise my eyes to the time. 9:00 p.m.
WHAT?
A book transfers me to an other planet where time moves at a five-fold faster rate.Reading is one of the best activities for the brain to keep it strong and healthy. By reading one can improve vocabulary and fluency because of exposure to the vast range of words and regular reading habits.
1.What is your favourite time or place to read a book?
*favourite place-
Ohh, just reading is a tremendous pleasure for me, and the location is not an essential aspect of the hobby, but it should be comfortable and nice.
I enjoy reading in a quiet environment, usually in my favourite recliner, dressed in a woollen plaid and sipping a large cup of hot tea.
If it's summer/harmattan, I like to lie down on an inflatable mattress under a tree and read in the dappled sunshine that filters through the leaves.
Then again,It all depends on the type of book you're reading.
On the bathroom: books of jokes, trivia, short anecdotes, and the like.
I'm laying sprawled out on my bed with my head propped up, reading serious books about history, historical biography, language, and so on.
In bed, I read fiction for relaxation (mostly whodunits).
In a restaurant, while having a meal, I read mystery magazines.
In summary,It varies depending on the book I'm reading because not all books can be read anywhere. For example, if I'm reading just for distraction or entertainment, i can do it anywhere. When i read for entertainment, it is not necessary to enter a state of absolute or high concentration, it is only necessary that i can be seated and that’s it. On the other hand, if I need a certain level of concentration and need to focus on my reading I create a reading nook.
favourite time-
I love to read at any time! But my favourite time is the last two hours or so before bedtime. I have a home library. In this, I burrow into my easy chair and read, with either a cup of tea or a shot glass of sipping water. This time is sacrosanct.
2. What makes you enjoy a book?
What makes me love a book or a novel are the hidden secrets that the author of the book wants to reveal about what he was thinking and why he wrote those lines when he was writing them.
It is sometimes simple to obtain, and other times it is really difficult. It reminds me of nectar.
Every writer has a lot of thoughts before writing, yet thoughts are difficult to explain in writing. He's talking about the things he can't include into his works.
After each new book i read, I kinda become wiser.
Similarly, I want to write a lot of things now,but am running out of words to convey them as my coffee cools.
3. Do you like to read outdoors, before bed or on the bus on your way to work
I can read anyplace, but my normal reading habits are as follows:
- in close proximity to other books (so that the book I'm reading doesn't feel lonely)
- near food (certain books trigger food cravings) - well-lit and with a comfortable seat.
If a location possesses those three characteristics, it instantly becomes a favourite.
4. Do you focus on character development, thoughtful messages, or the level of intrigue a plot generates in you?
I will say straight up,the intriguing plot, because nothing can keep me hooked for hours on a book like a story with a quest, adventure, pursuit, rescue, escape, rivalry or even revenge.That feeling is special.
