Greetings fellow Steemians (or is it Steemers?) Before continuing, anyone noticed what I did in the title there? Anyhow, this is jikZ in the real world – but I opted to go by the name of Coolector here in Steemit.
I signed up a few weeks ago and was excited to submit my very first post. However my better judgment told me to hold my first blog. Something inside told me to make it better than my usual introductory post (unlike those that I have made in BubblyWorld and BitCity). In this post I want my dear readers to know a little about me as they read word by word – from start to finish. As they say, first impression lasts (and of course only happen once).
So without further ado, here we go..
--- Why Coolector?
One thing people should know about me is that I like to collect things. Currently, I am collecting movie car diecast replicas. It started almost a decade ago when a colleague gave me a batmobile collectible. It was a diecast replica of the batmobile used in the 1989 Batman film starring Michael Keaton as Batman (and Jack Nicholson as Joker).
Below is a photo of that particular batmobile diecast collectible.
From collecting batmobiles, I expanded my collection to include prominent vehicles in the FnF (Fast and Furious) franchise. Since nostalgic sells, I also want to include diecast replicas of vehicles that have been a huge part of my childhood. For instance, the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, Knight Rider's KITT, the Mystery Machine, etc...
And now, majority of my collection already includes movie and TV car diecast collectibles.
--- Movie aficionado
Speaking of movies and based on the above info, it's already a given that I am a movie buff. I do enjoy most movie genre except for drama and horror. Anyone here enjoy these type of movies? As for me, the only time that I would be watching said genres is with a beautiful girl.
That being said, one can expect that I would be writing about movie reviews (or rather my opinion / impression about a certain film). Additionally, these movie reviews are not necessarily recent movies – some may include films that have been released many moons ago (like Heat, The Town, etc…)

Yes folks, you read that right. I also enjoy spending time in the great outdoors – be it swimming in clear seas or trekking majestic mountains. However, I have to admit that my old age has in times, becoming a hiccup in my mountain climbing adventures. Nevertheless, the spirit has not waned, but sometimes, the body is no longer willing.
Moving on, the picture above is our most recent mountain climb. It is Mt. 387, located in Nueva Ecija and the particular shot is at the summit overlooking the vast mountain side. I'll tell more about it on another post. For the mean time let me tell this – it is one grueling climb.

Finally, in this section, I'll share some things about my blogging journey. I have a regular day job at one of the major telcos here in the country (well there's only two in Philippines so it is not that hard to figure out where I work at).
Anyway, due to the hustle and bustle of corporate life, I wouldn't be able to spend as much time as I want in the site. But I do enjoy joining writing-sites with a lively community. In the past or in other writing sites that I have joined (some have already closed down), I used the username Papa_jikZ. However, it appears that the site does not accept special characters (like the underscore) in the username so I decided to go for Coolector.
I first heard about Steemit a little more than a year ago from Gracieeee Luxcks.
If you would refer to the cropped screenshot below, NB (NinjaButterfly - what I fondly call Gracieeee) told me about Steemit around July of last year during one of our messenger conversations:
But due to the demands at my day-job, I wasn't able to fully check out the site – until early this year when another online friend, Meredith Loughran posted something about Steemit in her wall.
That's when I recalled this writing site. Luckily, enJIEneer (another online buddy) is also a member and told me that the site is a great site to be part of. So a few weeks back, I decided to finally sign up.
I hope that Steemit will have a lively community since it would be my outlet to escape the hectic and stressful work environment. It would be a venue to write my thoughts and speak my mind – and of course, let us not forget the prospect of earning.
