Oh, how I missed the good old days when a neighbor could correct a child, without the parents coming out to fight or quarrel with the neighbors. When teachers discipline the children for wrongdoings the parents will be grateful instead of carrying a cane to fight the teachers in school.
when a child would help an elderly person fetch firewood and carry her load even if they were not related to them.

When you can't do any rubbish whether your parents are around or not. When anybody reports you to your parents for any misbehavior, haba you are finished.
When a child of sixteen years is only thinking about how to pass his or her exams, read their books, and strive to be excellent or the best. instead of crying about heartbreak and how to go partying.

When things were cheap and our naira had value.
When transport was very cheap and drivers could even carry you for free when they see you strangled
When the love of money has not blinded people. When speedy, fish coconut and pepper biscuits were children's favorite snack

When we have genuine Christians, when churches are not for business or profit.
When the preacher preaches about salvation people genuinely give their lives to Christ.
When they tell you that the lord said, it will happen as you were told.
When Christians gather and pray there is revival.

When Muslims and Christians can live together in peace and harmony without one criticizing the other beliefs or religion. When extremists don't exist, even if they do the trade with caution.

When you can buy cooked food for fifty naira and be satisfied.
When with 1000 you can make soup and stew, not now that greed and herdsmen have taken over the farmer's land for grazing and kill Innocent people.

I missed the good old days when I and my friends gathered around the pear tree to listen to tales by moonlight.
When we can dance under the rain all in the name of fetching water. Oh, that was funny, what about when we have to finish our evening chores just so we could gather in the nearby neighbor's house to watch Papa Ajasco, Fuji House of Commotion, and Even Tales by Moonlight around 6 pm on NTA? A television station in Nigeria.

I missed when people dressed decently and did not walk around naked in the name of body positivity.
When there was no body shaming, when people will okay with the size of their butt that God gave them, not now BBL has become the order of the day. when no one broke shame any young guy but encourages him to work hard.
When every Sunday the sound of onions and stew fills the air.
When men hustle for real and not too much pressure to make it big.

When you can go out freely at night without fear of being kidnapped, harassed by police officers,
When you can seek help from a police officer you will get it not now that you will be extorted instead.
When police are your friend as they always say. Not now when you see Police you start running even when you have not committed any crime.

One particular memory of the good old days was something that happened cause of the story. one I miss most was Speedy Biscuit, Coconut Biscuit, listening to stories at night, and even watching tales by moonlight on NTA

One fateful day, I almost burned down the house because I was listening to the story while cooking.
It happens that, that night was a continuation of a story on nta tales by moonlight.
It was time, so I put rice on fire and came to the parlor to watch television.
I sat down with my friends who left their house to mine as they didn't have any television.

We were so engrossed in the program that I forgot everything about the rice that I put on fire.
The rice boiled and dried water and started burning, ha God who do me like this?
I didn't even perceive it, the power of the movie.
Then my father came in from outside and ran into the kitchen, he shouted my name, and I ran outside oo. Cause I know that am in for a serious beating.
The whole rice burnt not even a grain of rice was removed .

Thanks to my grandma, oh that day would have been hot for me or maybe I would have met my ancestors that day.
As for speedy biscuits, anytime am angry to make me happy, just buy me a speedy, coconut, or that cookies with different patterns.

I missed the old good days.
