This recording demonstrates a small portion of the 8' Jeux doux (soft) registers of the Aeolian-Skinner Organ (Op. 1132), of the Redeemer Church from New Haven. The score for this work by Grosjean was kindly made available by organ friend, partitura@partitura.

I must admit, I didn't know about Ernest Grosjean until partitura@partitura introduced me to the compositions through his many recordings. This Communion piece was originally published in Pi猫ces pour orgue ou harmonium. It contained 56 pieces in two volumes. The title of the piece indicates that it would be used during Communion at a church service (so no loud stops here!). Given that it was composed for the harmonium in mind, the use of pedals are not required but could be added at the player's discretion for extra gravitas. Though I didn't use it in this recording, I really like the sound of a purring 32' Flue against Swell Strings.

The Aeoline-Skinner Organ (provided by Augustine's Virtual Organs) is quite versatile and capable of handing much of the organ repertory. I aim to present more pieces on this sample set highlighting its extensive tonal capabilities.
