October 26th 2017 marks the 23rd year of peace between Israel and Jordan. This Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty was signed near the border between the two nations in 1994, and was facilitated by the mediation of then President, Bill Clinton.
Although there have been some mostly political issues over the last 23 years, the treaty stands firm, and led to a further trade treaty in 1996, which to the benefit of both peoples and the region, governs billions in trade. Among many other successful projects, in 2013, Israel and Jordan agreed on the construction of a jointly owned and operated seawater desalinization plant on the Red Sea.
