parkrunday = Saturday. But what happens when Christmas Day falls on a Saturday? Do you still do parkrun? Well, in Australia the one special day we do parkrun on IS Christmas Day (others do a National Day or a different religious holiday, but we do Xmas Day). For the country's special day each event location gets to choose if they're going to hold an event that day.
As it turns out, our home parkrun (the parkrun we choose to return to again and again and we've claimed as our "home") did in fact choose to do a parkrun today. So that's where we went! And... we both got a course PB! Woooooooo!
My official parkrun time was 25:22 which is far faster than I expected to run with a sore calf and on a warm day. But what I loved even MORE is that my watch said my time was 25:25... on December 25!! ;)
Here's a great shot of me (below) about 800m into the 5km as we were about to cross back over the bridge. (Photo taken by Cheryl, an awesome and enthusiastic volunteer photographer)
And Matty, today's timekeeper (below), playing fun games with me as I sprinted across the finish line. (Photo taken by Brad/@new.things/my beloved)
And before all the running began, I did the First Timers Brief, another of the volunteer roles. I love this role because I get to welcome newcomers, look for parkrun tourists I might know, speak in public and I also get to run the parkrun after I've done this role. I just finished a 5.0km running that lasted about 0hh:25mm:22ss !
