Lately I have been thinking about the best way to bring new people to Steem (and keep them here!). When I joined it was really just Steemit and a few new dapps like @dtube and @dmania. Now we have tribes and we have many new dapps and games such as @steemmonsters, @actifit and @steemhunt.

Tribes offer users a way to join Steem when they are interested in a niche topic and not just the politics of Steem and crypto. Tunestoken.com is a great example of this, where the blogging is specifically related to music content. Users can be rewarded in Steem and also in the native Tunes tokens. Sporttalksocial has the exact same idea but with sports content.

Along with tribes there are other dapps and games that can attract an even wider audience. @steemhunt is great for techies and those interested in new and cool products. @steemmonsters is a fun collectible card game which rewards its users. @actifit allows users to track their daily activity and be rewarded in actifit tokens and also daily upvotes for activity. This is a step above apps like run keeper, which are 'free' but come with ads and track all your data and sell it!

But how will these create mass adoption?

These tribes give everybody a voice and a 'place to call home' on the Steem blockchain. It takes away all the white noise and politics. Some people love the politics, which is fine, but others only want to read about a certain topic or area.

These tribes are starting to see increased web traffic and I believe it is because they are easier to find relevant content - they are similar to subreddits or Facebook groups. This is something the everyday internet user os more famililiar with, and thus more comfortable.

Next time you find yourself explaining the ins ans outs of Steem think about letting them instead know about one of the tribes or dapps they might enjoy.
