After coming back from my christmas holiday I came back and logged onto musing@musing and found that there was alot less going on. After doing some research, I found that Steemit had pulled their large delegation, and also that Musing was no longer manually curating content (although they still have around 80k Steem Power). Since then activity has slowed to a crawl on Musing, and the Discord server is like a ghost town aswell. When the delegation was there, Musing was a great place to be and interact, but now the money has gone, so have the people - it seems that people do follow the money here on Steem (as much as they tell you they dont!).

I think that dapps cant become content when they get any major delegations or support, and have to have the attitude that a large delegation could be removed at any time. I am unsure of what the long term vision of Musing is/was but I hadnt seen anything laid out, and that could be a potential reason their delegation got removed. The polar opposite of this is steemhunt@steemhunt who also have a large delegation, but they didnt get theirs removed. This is most probably because they have a much more clear vision and roadmap, and are constantly coming up with new ideas to not only move Steemhunt forward but also to help move the whole Steem blockchain forwards.

Lessons from Actifit - The importance of community

I have been a fan of actifit@actifit pretty much since they have started, and I what I like is that the majority of the delegations they recieve are from the community 0 and they give that back to the community. This means that they are unlikely to lose a large ammount of delegation all at once, and that there isnt really a central point of failure.

Actifit really is a community driven app, and this is one of the reasons I have delegated to them - I feel that if I am getting some benefit from the dapp and can help them grow then this is the least that I can do. It does seem that alot of others feel the same way, and it is great to see their delegation slowly, but steadily increasing.

Moving Forward

I do hope that Musing can make a comeback in the future, as I really love the concept and actually learnt alot from reading questions and answers. The best way for Musing to move forward is to be proactive, and get the community involved. By having a clear roadmap moving forward they are more likely to see success.

I wish them well!!!
