A few days ago we saw the fork of Steem, and the creation of the the Hive blockchain. It all seems to be up and running, but it has left me with some questions about Hive and also about the future of Steem, if there is even a future?

I have seen the majority of the people I follow take the plunge into Hive and most seem happy, as am I! Glad to have a fresh start with the majority of the Steem community onboard. I noticed yesterday In posted on travelfeed@travelfeed, and that it posted to my Steemit blog meaning they havent migrated yet. It got me thinking about other dapps - actifit@actifit, steemhunt@steemhunt, dlike@dlike, splinterlands@splinterlands, when (or will) these dapps make the changeover to Hive, and what does it mean if they choose not to. I have delegated to these projects and will leave my delegations for the mean time, but this might change...

I see many people here talking about powering down there Steem and moving it over to Hive - good for the price of Hive and bad for the price of Steem. I still have most of my Steem delegated, what is peoples thoughts on this? Should I have more liquid Steem and be looking to move it to Hive? Is Steem dead? There does seem alot less activity on there at the moment.

What about tribes and Steem-engine tokens? Will tribes be migrating to Hive? I have powered up Palnet, Neoxian and Sportstalksocial. Are these now worthless, and should I be powering down and selling? I have heard some talk about Steem-engine moving to Steem, but this could take some time.

Hive is starting to trade now, and on Coingecko, the price is sitting at between 0.18 - 0.20 - similar to the price range of Steem. It will be interesting to see where this goes as time goes on and we develop more trade history. I have used Binance to trade Steem for Bitoin in the past, anyone know whether they will add Hive anytime soon?

The future of Steem?

What do all these developments mean for the future of Steem? With most of the community (and the value) migrating to Hive, it seems that the value of Steem might plummet. However, with Justin Sun at the helm it wouldnt surprise me if he can regenerate Steem and make something out of it. Maybe he will rebrand and target it at the Korean market. I know with what he has done many people are angry, but I am still not sure I want to power down all my Steem and leave yet, but I do think having some liquid would be a good idea.

For the moment I will still be cross posting the majority of my posts on Steem and Hive and dont see a problem with it. I know some dont like this or have a problem with it, but it works for me for now.

Overall I am happy with Hive and how quick and painfree it has rolled out, and looking forward to the next few months ahead!
