The Walking Dead comic started in 2003 and was written by Robert Kirkman with Tony Moore as the artist. After the 6th issue, Charlie Adlard became the artist in place of Moore.

Nowadays pretty much everyone knows about The Walking Dead thanks to the incredibly popular TV show which got as many as 17 million US viewers at its peak! My dad told me that he got really into The Walking Dead show when it first started so he bought the first compendium for the comics back then. Since I've been getting into comics a lot recently he gave it to me and I've been having a blast so far. I'm a little over a third of the way through the first compendium (which has issues 1-48) and it has been very engaging so far. The art is fantastic and the fact that it is in black and white is actually very fitting, it would probably be a bit disgusting in colour really. The black and white also adds to the bleakness of the apocalypse. The characters are great and interact really well with each other. I felt like the plot moved a bit too fast at the beginning but it looks like it will be slowing down now which I appreciate. There have been lots of twists and turns and deaths which I really enjoy and there has been some really shocking moments that left me in awe.

Having played the Walking Dead game by Telltale Games (RIP) I was able to get more context and found it really cool that Glenn and Hershel both appeared (briefly) in the first season of the game (Michonne also had her own game but she's only just showed up),

So far I've been having an awesome time so I'll almost definitely be picking up the other compendiums once I eventually finish this! There's a lot more to read so that's had me very excited.

Thanks for reading!
