When is started making a lot more money. More than what i had ever grew up having anyone make in my family, i was stoked. I went from extreme poverty to working for my own money pumping gas. After that i was a sign holder for a furniture and mattress company, not a big step up. More of a lateral step actually. Even though i was the lowest on the totem poll i still interacted with my boss and all the sales people like equals. Because of my natural Charisma i was able to get in close and make friends easily almost everywhere i went in life. I could use my natural persuasive and charismatic attributes to go places and i knew it. Well there was nowhere to go at my first job except inside to cashier which lets face it nobody is gettin out the hood with a cashiers J.O.B. No. I was destined to be someone more, and something more. One day the General manager was in the store while i was on break from the sign job. i approached him with a simple "hows your day boss". He said '' better than some, worse than others", with a big smile on my face i gave a cheesy laugh back. He proceeded to tell me that my day was about to be as good as that top sales guy that sold a $10,000 bed set that day. I asked calmly but with excitement "why what up" he said "YOUR FIRED". My heart sank to my nuts. I asked him "why?". Again the smile came out as i watched his come over his bearded face. He said " because your hired and working for me now, but as a salesmen". I was amazed. Even though this was my motive the whole time i was getting close to all the sales managers and salesmen, I didn't see it coming. I had made enough good impressions that i was drafted to the all-star team. Now if your thinking "ok well thats cool but you cant change your lifestyle as an RSA(retail sales associate). You are wrong. especially when you consider that i have pay checks that can be up to 10x what i was making holding a sign in the elements. However, commission can be a blessing and a curse but only if you are inconsistent in your work or you work for a shotty company that doesn't advertise. If your good you will always be ok. Sales jobs are not for everyone. Either have it or you don't. I do not believe that it is something you can teach, you are born with these skills and just learn to hone them. So in conclusion, if you take that leap of faith and take that chance it just might pay off. dont be afraid to stand as an equal, even to someone you think out-classes or ranks you.Patience is a virtue.
