It's getting to be that time of year again, the temperatures and leaves are falling, the farmers' markets are wrapping up for the year, and things are trending toward the spooky side. Even spacetime will be getting all weird come 0200 Sunday.

My neighborhood farmers' market, the South End Community Market, had its last day of the year this past Saturday, and they made sure to go out in style.

Called it their Harvest Festival, had more vendors than I'd ever seen there before, face painting and candy for the kids, barbeque, fixins and sides from a neighborhood restaurant, and prize raffles and giveaways.

Drew a good crowd out to close out the season, but the day had some serious 'last day of school' vibes. Spent most of my spring and summer Saturday mornings hanging out and snapping photos with these folks, will be weird not running into them as regularly.

Still had a lovely time, will be at a bit of a loss as to where to go shooting come Saturday morning.

And now for the part none of y'all were waiting for, the second half of the Saturday South End shindigs, the Beechmont Pet Parade!

A couple hours after the community market came to a close for the year, the 6th annual Beechmont Pet Parade kicked off at the gazebo next to the intersection of Woodlawn and Southern Parkway.

This South End tradition got its start during the height of Covid restrictions, with folks meeting up with their pets to parade up and down the Barkway as neighbors set out at the end of their driveways with water, pets and treats.

The restrictions are long a thing of the past, but everyone had too much fun to let the parade fade away with them.

The turnout for this year's event was the largest yet, and although it was mostly puppers parading, there were still several cats along for the ride.

In addition to the parading, there was also a food truck, pumpkin painting and a DJ.

Did I mention treats? There were lots of treats.

Could post way too many photos, but it's safe to say it was a barking good time.

What's your pet going to be this Halloween?
