We are Christ's bride waiting for his coming to take us to his fathers house. We as church are expected to prepare adequately for his second coming. Meeting our groom and being part of the heavenely banquet should be our greatest desire.
The church of God should be more concerned about being holy and presenting ourselves as spotless church before God. I get inspired anytime I read about John the Baptist. John came preaching about the kingdom of heaven and the coming of the Messiah.
He was focused only on his mission; preparing the way for the Lord. Nothing in this life impressed John for him to abort his mission. He wasn't concerned about his body, the best food he will eat and the best clothes to put on his body.
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a belt of a skin about his waist; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; And preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit. Mark 1:4-8
To him it was about the kingdom business and nothing else. That's how the church of God must be today. Nothing should distract us from our mission on earth.
Our mission is to preach the gospel to all creations and win lost souls to God. Again we are to prepare for the soon coming of our bridegroom.
There are so many things in the world to tempt and dissuade us from fulfilling our greatest mission but we should not permit anything to become a hindrance or take our eyes off our worthy cause.
Christ is coming at the time we least expect, hope you are preparing to meet him?
