I travel in order to watch. And sometimes learn. I do believe it´s still possible to get to know some of the culture of the country you are visiting although tourism (like myself - I know) makes it more and more difficult to keep a local identity.
When I go on holidays, I try to explore everything on foot. Maybe a scooter or a motobike. But the more you can get involved, the better the experience.

Best way to get involved is going to local markets or like here in Marrakesh the local Souk.

Our fears of other is often misconception or even not knowing anything about each other. I have had extraordinary experiences in other countries, some of which I have never even gotten close to having back home. Most of these experience had music and or food involved. This is no new concept, I am well aware of it. But it´s certainly true.

Marrakesh Souk is full of great little narrow streets to get lost in. And do get lost in them, I can only guarantee with every corner you turn, you will find something even more amazing, a different smell, different light, different food.

Marrakesh is extremely busy, due to it´s many tourists, but even amidst the thousands of people flogging in to the market, we were able to find corners and places were we were the only one´s wandering around the beautiful medina. At night the market turns into a giant food stall with amazing foods on display at a really good price. The bustling atmosphere of lights, sounds and smells are incredible to watch.

Best part about it though is the fact, that all of this magic is so close to this:
