It´s been around for a while but it´s exploded in the last couple of years: I am speaking about abandonned places photography.

Abandonned Places are old buildings - with more or less history - that have great apeal to photographers. It´s always a great challenge to show run down locations in a somewhat pretty and arty way (Whatever arty means :) )

I have been visiting old buildings in Berlin for almost 10 years now. Being from Berlin, some have great historic value to me. I will revisit a couple with you, but the first on the list is the old Berlin Field Station used by the American intelligence to spy on Russia (or whoever they needed to spy on back then).

These giant radar station have an incredible reach and some say, the American´s were able to listen to Moscow speak. This sound like a great Cold War Movie. For Berliners back then, this was reality.

Today, it is used as a Museum with several streetartist decorated the buildings in huge murals. Some of them are absolutely amazing. I can only recommend a visit there, even consider a guided tour. The days of just climbing a fence and being on the property semi legally are long over. But, if you feel like a great day without the thrills of being caught, the Teufelsberg Field Station is a great way to spend the day.
