I was doing a little walking yesterday, (gotta get those steps in haha) when the mood struck me to grab a couple pictures of my town to share with my friends here on Steemit.
My first stop was here at Tyrone Memorial Park. Features include a swing set (down the hill, there were people here, so no pictures. ) And the gazebo (pictured)
The back of the sign explains who and what the park is intended to memorialize along with a poem:
Right across the street from there we have what was the greatest source of speculation and mystery for the neighborhood children (myself included)
This is the Lamoka Lodge, home of our local chapter of the Free Masons! We used to tell each other all kinds of stories about this place as children, but nothing nefarious as it would turn out. Just a private fraternal order going about their business. We even found an OLD membership book in our house we purchased, we keep it in an airtight container as it’s pretty damaged. These things that remain, along with my post from the other day of things that have disappeared: https://steemit.com/life/@coldlogic/lost-relics-of-childhood-the-places-progress-forgot-myheartshome
(Link if you want to read it) are a pretty good summation of the current state of my Tiny Town. I hope it’s fortunes change, I know I’ll be actively working to change them. Let’s see some #tinytown support! Show me some pictures and descriptions of your childhood homes and lets #growtogether. Don’t know much about your town? Get out there and learn about it! The internet and your local historical society have the answers! (Probably haha) and as always— #upvoteplankton
Until tomorrow
