A lot of people never heard of the White Star ship the R.S.M. Baltic.
The only reason I have any knowledge of the R.S.M. Baltic is because it is a part of my family history. But there are some other interesting facts about the RSM Baltic. April 14th 1912 the RSM Baltic sent a warning message to the RSM Titanic about the icebergs and large ice feilds being sighted with the coordinates of where they were.
When World War 1 started in 1914 the RSM Baltic helped with the evacuation of Americans from Europe. It also carried military supplies from the UK to America. The RSM Baltic was scraped in Japan in 1933.
My fathers family came over from England on the RSM Baltic in the early 1900's. One of the questions on the passangers log was do you have $50.00. Another question was who you will be meeting there. Yes. my father as a child traveled to America from England on the RSM Baltic which was a 10 day trip back then. He did arrive at Ellis Island in New York City.
Ellis Island was used as a immigrants inspection station. From what I remember that my Grandfather and my Dad told us. They had to be there for hours and was asked a lot of questions. They were asked their names,how much money they had on them and what kind of work they did. They were also given a medical check up to make sure they were healthy. Luckly my family had no medical problems and was able to settle in the United States of America.
