Hello Steemians! 👋
I wanted to be part of Steemit community for quite some time and now's the time.
Here is my introduction post, hope you'll enjoy it.
I started an education/computer science/programming-based YouTube channel back in March of 2017. The CodeWorkr channel is still a really small one, just barely over 1140 subscribers there, but it is something I'm enormously proud of...💖
Starting that channel, well I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. That heartwarming feeling you get when you read over hundreds of positive comments from people all around the world that thank you because they learned something (important to them for numerous reasons - jobs, interests, hobbies) thanks to you, all while you're doing what you absolutely love - well I doubt any job or any salary can top that, to be honest.
At the moment, CodeWorkr's content is primarily focused on web development (Node, React, JavaScript), but I envision myself covering pretty much anything programming-related in the future. I also want to cover different programming languages such as the new Golang, Elixir, Rust, etc, as well as one huge "Programming 101" series aimed at someone who never touched programming but is interested in it. #beginnerswelcome
Not to mention that I'm myself extremely interested in cryptocurrencies, both from the investing side of things as well as technical side, therefore I also plan on creating videos/material on the nitty-gritty details on how they work - starting at cryptographic hash functions and going up.
I also understand that I'm not about photography, news, travel or politics - some of the hugely popular topics on Steemit, but that's the beauty of it. Everyone should focus on the niche they're the best at and not try to fit somewhere just because it's popular. I'm honestly not sure if CodeWorkr will be interested to the majority of you, but if I may add something - programming is really, really valuable skill to have - especially nowadays.
Heck, the developers behind cryptocurrencies have a huge impact whether some cryptocurrency is doing well or not in the long run (think patches to the blockchain, forks, ethereum apps, etc).
So if you have a spare moment here and there, I highly suggest you try it out!
As someone who has Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, I can honestly tell you with confidence (and from my first-hand experience) that CS degree really isn't important when it comes to the programming. It's more of a craft really. So, if you ever thought of learning programming but were set back by the thought of not having formal education or something silly like that - don't worry about it at all - all the information you'll ever need to know is easily searchable on the lovely internet.
Example: I skipped classes so I could learn a majority of my courses on the internet just because they were explained better over there!
Anyhow, school is kind of a dated concept and I anticipate it crashing in the future just as fiat money will.
Well, the YouTube community is super nice to me (in the niche I'm operating in), that said, I like the whole shift cryptocurrencies bring and I can't help but see how vibrant and positive the Steemit community is and therefore I'd like to be part of it as well!
I'm not leaving YouTube at all, I have met lots of wonderful people there, but hopefully, CodeWorkr will find a place here as well. I plan on creating both the written posts as well as videos on DTube, and to also lurk in these kinds of topics and answer any questions I know the answers to.
