Leyendo a @mariperez316 @irenenavarroart y @neotopher conocí otra manera de llamar a la catalina "paledonias" el de "cuca" lo escuché la primera vez a mis 8 años, cuando una de mis madrinas preguntó de manera muy eufórica en voz alta, quién quiere cuca? 😲 y yo quedé boca abierta, ya que coloquialmente así le decimos a la vagina, y mi cabeza reventaba diciendo: Qué le pasa a mi madrina? Cómo va a ofrecer eso, recuerdo que muchos de los presentes hicieron una cola y yo le pregunté, madrina por qué usted ofrece eso, ella sonriendo saco de su carro una bolsa de Catalina y dijo, Cochi la catalina también es conocida con este nombre🫣 además me dijo que había cuca blanca y negra.

Concuerdo con estos usuarios en que la
catalina es un rico postre ideal para acompañar con café, pero como le dije a @mariperez el mío que sea con leche😅 además de que para compartir entre amigos y familiares es excelente, sea una mañana fresca, una tarde relajante o una noche de práctica, momentos necesarios para fortalecer los lazos como dice @neothopher, le dije que investigaría un poco y leyendo supe que la Catalina es una mezcla entre los países españoles y árabes, solo que a la gallega le ajustaron los ingredientes de nuestra región, que en nuestro país las empezaron mujeres afrodescendientes.

Cuando vi la imagen, inmediatamente me llevo a mis 17 años, vivíamos a solo tres casa de unas colombianas expertas en la fabricación casera de estos dulces cortado, besitos, y cuando el horno empezaba a esparcir ese agradable olor de estos postres recién hechos, mis amigos y yo ya estábamos sentados en un muro frente de la casa, esperando ser los primeros en comprar y nunca faltó el respectivo refresco de coca cola, que era el que mandaba en esa época, y ella también lo vendían, eran muy buenas comerciantes😅 y nosotros muy buenos clientes.

Reading @mariperez316, @irenenavarroart, and @neotopher, I learned another way to refer to Catalina: "paledonias." I first heard "cuca" when I was 8 years old, when one of my godmothers excitedly asked, "Who wants cuca?" 😲 I was speechless, since that's what we colloquially call the vagina, and my head was spinning, thinking, "What's wrong with my godmother? How can she offer that?" I remember many people forming a line, and I asked her, "Godmother, why are you offering that?" Smiling, she took a bag of Catalina out of her car and said, "Cochi, Catalina is also known by this name." 🫣 She also told me there was white and black cuca.

I agree with these users that the Catalina is a delicious dessert, ideal to enjoy with coffee, but as I told @mariperez, mine is with milk 😅. It's also excellent for sharing with friends and family, whether it's a fresh morning, a relaxing afternoon, or a practice session—moments necessary to strengthen bonds, as @neothopher says. I told her I'd do some research, and after reading, I learned that the Catalina is a blend of Spanish and Arabic flavors, with the Galician version adapted to our region. In our country, it was originally made by Afro-descendant women.

When I saw the picture, it immediately took me back to when I was 17. We lived just three houses down from some Colombian women who were experts at making these sweet treats, called "cortos" or "besitos," at home. As soon as the oven started filling with that wonderful aroma of freshly baked desserts, my friends and I would be sitting on a wall across from the house, waiting to be the first to buy. And there was always a bottle of Coca-Cola, which was all the rage back then, and they sold it too. They were great businesswomen 😅 and we were great customers.
