Today I wanted to share a few photos from an old waterfall we went to the other day!
Waterfall Walk
One of my favorite things about trying to find fishing spots for me and my son to enjoy, is that sometimes you stumble upon a truly beautiful place!
My son and I have been going on father-son fishing adventures for many years now. It's a wonderful time, and also sad at the same time because he is getting older, and not being so much of my little boy. It's an important stage of his development of course, and there is no way I would want it a different way but we do get to reflect back on the wonderful times at least!
I often wonder why my son is naturally a fascinated kid with running water of any kind. We are constantly finding waterfalls, little brooks and other things on our walks and he just jumps off the trail or wherever we are going and hangs out to take a look. I don't blame him, really, because running water is truly a beautiful sight to see!
There are so many unique and interesting things in the look of water as it's flowing. I think an important one for me as well is the awesome sound of it all. I for sure love the sound of the beach, with the waves hitting the rocks or sand and making that nice low-roaring and rolling sound as the water retreats.
What I think I prefer a bit more is the sound of a nice waterfall or cascading type of water like a rolling river over rocks and stuff. It produces such an interesting and calming sound that it's really not like many other things. I know that there is certainly a lot to be said about the relaxing sound of ocean waves, but there is also a lot to a nice waterfall!
This waterfall here is for sure pretty damn cool, in that it used to be a part of history where it was an old mill. Obviously the pond has been here for a really long time, I wonder if it's hundreds of years old at this point but you never know. Building a mill to do mechanical work is certainly one of the great achievements of the people in the past.
I think that's also one of the best parts about humans. For better or worse, we are always building and inventing things! I do wonder what this is going to look like in the age of AI. Are we going to be helped, or hurt by the assistance of an AI bot? I can certainly go either way on that, but the pessimistic part of me thinks that it's likely to go the negative way, considering how the world is in present state regardless of what AI can and has done.
One of the fun things about the waterfall is that it's largely empty and quiet when we are there. I think one of the sad things about it is that the fishing is absolutely garbage lol. There are really no good fish in it which kind of sucks. I get why there aren't many good fish.. sadly there are a bunch of big fucking snapping turtles and they take the fish.
Still, though it's always a great time when we visit here for a few hours, knowing that the fishing is probably going to be shit, but the scenery is really a beautiful sight!
