Monochrome Monday Winter Beach

This year we made an investment, well I did, on my wife and I got her a new camera. She's been wanting to get into different parts of photography for a while and one of the things that's been holding her back is that we didn't have a newer camera to get into it. We had a pretty good camera, it was a Canon Rebel T3 which served its purpose for showing us the ropes of how to use and manage a DSLR but it was getting old and it wasn't performing to what we needed it to. We are going to keep it still and have it as a backup camera if we need to for whatever reason, or if the little man wants to take pictures with one, but it was time to upgrade to a newer camera that has a lot of the newer technology available.

I did this for several reasons and one of them is to help her get more confidence in her abilities! She's a good photographer for sure, she just needs to get some experience taking some decent pictures and she will grow from there. These are some of the first pictures she took with the camera this past weekend!

We had a really nice bout of good weather here, where it got into the 50's! That's not too common in the middle of winter time so we knew that we wanted to head to the beach so that we could enjoy the ocean breeze and get a little bit of grounding of our feet and bodies in the earth!

The beach was nice and the waves in this particular spot weren't too crazy which worked out because the other spot we tried to go to was a lot windier. That meant cooler waves but it was also a fair bit colder than we wanted it to be lol so we left and came here. I love the giant buoy hanging out there in the water! It looks like it's not too far out but that's about 2 kilometers away I would say, pretty far considering!

The rocks were the real attention grabber. I didn't know what she was taking pictures of, since I had our son with me and we were off exploring the rocks to see if there was any wildlife to be seen, which there was not lol. She used these nice rocks as a good subject to figure out how to use the camera and the lens and I like how they came out!

I love when we get to capture the waves as they roll over the rocks and contour around them like they do here. It makes for some pretty cool photos! I think that's some foam there on the left lower part of the rock, there was a decent amount of that for whatever reason. I think this particular area gets fed runoff water from the sewer drain system which is kind of gross when you think about it lol. There are kids that play in the water frequently and I cringe! I don't let our son play in that mess lol who knows what's in there. At least when it gets mixed with the ocean water it gets diluted but it's not a great practice to let the runoff just drain right into the ocean but that's a tangent for another day..
