Hi fellow Ranters,
Today I made the final move to get rid of the mainstream blood in me: deleted twitter!
Burned my Twitter account!
Deleting my Twitter account was a great moment for me. I’m by far not a Twitter addict, I honestly only used it for promoting posts from hive here but it didn’t really get me anything special for it, so I took my own social media ownership and took them out of the equation.
I still have some job related profiles but that’s far more on the focus of careers than it is anything social. I catch up with folks I haven’t talked to in a long time here and there but for the most part it’s strictly business, better than a mullet. (Anyone remember those nowadays?)
I think getting rid of one of the other cancerous platforms like Twatter was a great move to get me into a more ownership mindset where I don’t let them sell my content on their platform and me not get even a thousandth of a penny. Not going to fly for longer once the hive experiment and others go more mainstream. I’m slowly phasing out other things like YouTube and gmail as well, I removed most of the channels I follow on YouTube because I know they just sell my profile information and what I look at to companies so I’ve started to go to the sources themselves, the content creators websites. This has been a good way to still give them my attention but also get traffic on their website instead of the mainstream platforms. The more we do this type of thing, the less control these companies can have over the message.
It felt great to delete my 150 or so tweets one by one and make the account bare. I forgot to delete the profile picture as well but the account is deactivated now so nothing I can do anymore for that one. Good riddance!
