Hello former Steemians and name to be determined for HIVE users,

I wanted to create a post on the new HIVE blockchain that many of us are now using. I think it's going to be a good environment for the future of the community that so many of us were engaging with.

The main topic I wanted to discuss is that although there is a great deal of hype around HIVE, which I think is great, we can't let it consume the content. In order for more people to start to look at HIVE and want to come over here we need to not focus on ourselves, but keep doing what we were doing on Steem prior to the explosion. We need to create original and meaningful content. Some of it can be about our awesome new chain but that gets boring, quick. We don't need one large echo chamber, that's what I and many others really hated about the mainstream platforms. Lots of the same stuff and it gets old.

Modifying my post a little bit from the original version to add some additional views I have on HIVE, but trying to stay to the point of not focusing so much content on the description of HIVE.

What is HIVE to you?

Hive is an opportunity to break away from the negativity that surrounded the Steem blockchain and all its issues. From the ninja mine, to Ned, and STInc controlling things but not in an open way.

What do you want to see HIVE evolve into?

I want to see HIVE evolve into a decentralized, censorship-resistant environment that has a large social aspect to it but also has incredible technical development going on with it. There was a lot of development for various things with the former Steem blockchain that I think would be excellent to pursue here. We are paving the way to more adoption of the DPoS method of using the internet and blockchain. Games, tech, fitness and lots of other things were happening all attached to utilizing the chain, really flexing the muscles of the capability of the chain and its usefulness.

What do you think about having a large funded DAO for future HIVE development?

I think having a large DAO is going to be great for development in the future. Getting people excited about projects that they can potentially fund through the DAO without having to pitch to one group directly is a great thing. Having a central authority approve or deny your development isn't the best. Letting the community determine who gets paid from the DAO is the ideal scenario. If the community doesn't like the project or its direction, they lose votes. That's a good way to manage money so it isn't wasted on something that may have been voted in due to bias.

What does HIVE mean to you?

HIVE is a community of people who are here for various reasons, but are all tied together in our desire to have a blockchain environment where we can interact with others and get paid a little bit of money to do it. Then you add the excellent communities that are there and you will understand that it isn't just about technology, or money. It's about a way to connect each other and help each other out and have a little experiment in community governance principles. So much nowadays is a central organization dictating what happens and what is and is not allowed. HIVE allows us to break free from that and do it ourselves. Don't like something? Downvote it or mute the user, or block the tag from your feed. If you were on one of the mainstream platforms, they don't give you the capability to do a lot of those things since it's centrally controlled.

My content

I will continue the content I put forth on our old home and look for new content to write about. The developers here can post about the awesome things they are doing to improve but I really hope that not everyone just posts everything about Hive for the next two weeks, and goes to resume other types of content.

Things that I will be posting about, though not necessarily all at once:

LEGO's - with the awesome community headed by galenkp@galenkp. Having some LEGO content to start talking about here will be pretty awesome, so I look forward to doing that!

Excel - I hope that paulag@paulag continues to post about some awesome Excel tips and tricks, I know I'm overdue for my latest Excel post. I am doing a lot more remote work so this will be on my agenda for sure!

Natural Medicines - I know for sure that riverflows@riverflows and the whole naturalmedicine@naturalmedicine crew will be putting out some exceptional content in this realm. We are looking to some great natural ways to stay healthy amid the health situation that many are experiencing now.

DIY - Not sure if diyhub@diyhub or build-it@build-it moved over but I know they were sharing some awesome DIY content from various aspects of the realm, I have one post planned for the coming weeks!

Keep it going and original

I think if we keep up what attracted us all to the blockchain we were all involved with, community posts and content focused, rather than long posts ranting and bashing others (granted, well-deserved) we will be able to retain new users that are getting information from the press releases if they see the fantastic stuff we've got going on, rather than just complaining.

Who's with me? I know chekohler@chekohler has been putting out his normal posts mixed in with some drama stuff, but mostly normal. I think everyone should try to get back to that!
