I play games of all sorts. I write code for a living. I'm into cooking, cocktails, art and craft. And I'm recently a grandfather.

RE: Trying out the new Harry Potter AR game
I spent a couple weeks playing and decided there wasn't enough game to keep engaging. It seemed like all there was was a treadmill, a thin story, and a bunch of IP assets. Are you still into it?

RE: Squirrels chow down on farmers' crops
We tried spraying blended habanero on our winter squash to keep them off. One day my wife found a squirrel eating a pumpkin -- it would stop eating every few bites to let out this long, undulating screaming

RE: Steemit Iron Chef 2018 Act 02 #02: Spinach Wraps Wild Style - with Elm Leaves, Gingko Nuts, Cherries and More!
Totally off-topic, but I've been watching through the entire history of the Edible Acres YouTube channel, and I happened to read through some comments and saw one from you. So this is me just waving across

RE: Homemade Pickles!
I have a crock of cukes under brine right now. It's my first time using Sichuan flower pepper as the big strong flavor (with some chiles and garlic). They're not even half-sour yet, but already delicious.

RE: Dishwashers are just better at washing dishes than we are
I have no problem believing that they're more water-efficient and they're obviously a time-saver, but I'm not sure about getting things cleaner. Maybe my dishwasher makes the dishes as hygienic as washing

RE: ...
It's summer here. I love to grow vegetables, but I hate the heat, so it's a confusing time. I love the winter and moved somewhere with relatively extreme winters (Minnesota, US) and just enjoy them.

RE: The Potted Green Peppers
I've tried, but can't get large bell peppers to form and ripen in containers. I get lots of small chile peppers.

RE: Fermented Friday: Sour Carrots!
I ferment a lot of vegetables. Typically I use carrots in kimchis with cabbage and other stuff, but I've fermented them in brine a few times, usually much longer than what you're describing -- like 2-3

RE: Fermented Friday: Ginger Bugs!
I can start a fresh bug and get through the soda-brewing process with wonderful results. But I have never managed to keep one alive longer than about twelve days. They always crash and I have to start

RE: The problem at the center of Marvel's “Agents of SHIELD”
I stopped watching the show near the middle of the third season. It had a spot in our family rotation but it just felt like a drag each time it came up. We're much more enjoying the Netflix MCU shows.

RE: The problem at the center of Marvel's “Agents of SHIELD”
I don't quite understand what you're implying by the reference to Firefly. It had less than a season and is more universally appreciated by the people I know than any other show ever.

RE: Starting to create a Twine game from some of my old Dungeon World campaign material
I played with Twine a little when I first heard about it three or four years ago. One of my tiny projects was a mid-game character replacer for a D&Dish game.

RE: “The psychological representation of modality” and its possible relevance to tabletop RPGs
I'm interested in the distinction you draw between morals and aesthetics. You think they're different things? ETA: What I mean is, morals seems like a subset of aesthetics.

I think you're right, Dan. My face to face group is currently playing a sandbox style Whitehack game (which is in the D&D family). As I was reading the first part of this, I wanted to disagree with

RE: One Tag To Rule Them All: Roleplayers Unite
So the system is broken. OTOH, making them free would be begging for over-use. I dunno what the answer is then. Maybe the first four each day could be free.
