I would say that in steem we trust, but witnesses are who make steem, steem. Without them there is no steem, just like a government without presidants.
The community vote for them and they decide what should be done with the blockchain. Of course we give them our feedback, but it doesn't main that they should do everything we ask for. They are not our parents and even parents sometimes refuse what the kid ask.
I mean if we are voting for them, that means we trust them. If we trusted them with previous hard forks, why shouldn't we trust them with the soft one !
I think they know what they are doing. It's in their interest to protect steem. Why should we risk the thing that we fighted for, for so long time. Why we need to trust an other blockchain to do better ?!
I think our witnesses who are here for years are much better to trust !
After all, we are all here creators and we are doing our part with being active in the chain and it's their work to take care about the blockchain itself !
