Wonderful that Tom did not have to give anything up as a result of his detour. This really is a positive thinking, abundant universe type of story and perspective. He got the girl, the dream job, and he was able to be a hero by bringing the hospital to the village, even though one might assume having the accident was going to cost him the job opportunity. It's nice to see this perspective expressed in fiction.
