Happy Friday, everyone! Today should be a busy day for me, but fortunately, it's been declared a holiday to commemorate The EDSA People Power Revolution. We also don't have class tomorrow because of this holiday. Phew, a long weekend indeed! What good news after this tiring week, lol.
The Palace clarified that February 25 is a regular working holiday.
This whole week has only revolved around my academic life. It's been such a busy week that I can't even be distracted to do other things. I wake up, eat my breakfast, exercise, prepare for school, study, then go home at night, study a bit, and sleep. Imagine doing this every day, without anything to help you unwind and relax. It's exhausting, and it feels like I'm always tense and anxious.
Last Tuesday, one of my friends who came from another section decided to sit in during our class discussion about Photoshop. He greeted us excitedly, showing that he missed us a lot. He talked and shared many things with me, a typical conversation you would witness when a person hasn't seen their friend in a long time.
I appreciate the energy he gave, but it overwhelmed me. Although I would like to reflect back on the enthusiasm he showed, I'm already tired. It seems the part of my brain that works on socializing can't function well, making me unable to act and speak to another person. I just answered most of his inquiries and then inserted fake smiles and chuckles along with our conversations.
Our class started around 4 pm and ended at 6 pm. I am super duper drained from absorbing a lot of information, plus trying my best to stay focused and awake. The only thing on my mind at that time was to get out of that classroom, go home, and rest. Luckily, it was our last subject for the day.
Before leaving the room, our friend who sat in with us earlier invited us to accompany him and meet his circle of friends. In the back of my head, someone was screaming to just leave them and run for my life. But I couldn't let the intrusive thoughts win. It would also be rude and might spark a misunderstanding.
I went with them, silently walking and listening to their conversations. I wanted to join, but I was just effing tired, and my social battery was already at 0%. I would occasionally look at them, trying to look interested in what they were saying, but in reality, their words didn't register in my head.
We reached the destination, and a group of people was waiting for us. I greeted them hello and gave them the remaining juice of my social battery. However, with every passing minute, I grew increasingly uncomfortable. Then, a few moments later, I lost my composure and told them that I was going home.
I saw disappointment on their faces, and I hated it. But the damage had been done, and I had no choice but to stand by what I said. I walked home, accompanied by my friend. Thanks to him, really.
The next day was a good day as I was able to get a high score on our quiz. It felt like my efforts had paid off. Not to brag, but my friend and I got the highest score in the class, so it was validation and a boost to my deteriorating self-esteem, haha.
The workload that day wasn't heavy, unlike these past few days. I can finally ease my mind. Here's our group selfie to celebrate that day!
The black dirt you see on our forehead is ash from burnt Palm fronds. It's a Catholic tradition that signifies the start of the Lent season. The good thing is a group of nuns went to our university to put this on our forehead because we don't have any other available schedule to attend church that day.
If you've made it here, thank you so much for reading. I always spend several hours just to complete this, which might seem like an exaggeration to others but trust me, it's not 😅. So, the thought of someone reading my work already warms my heart (∩˃o˂∩)♡. Until next time, bye!
