This article boils it down to three events for 2018. The bear market, the BAKKT announcement of an ETF, and the ten year anniversary of Bitcoin. The bear market was important because it forced the departure of many sh*tcoins. The scam coins proved a hindrance to the development and advancement of the crypto universe. The BAKKT announcement of an ETF insured and backed and settled in actual Bitcoins (scheduled to start January 24, 2019) will allow the established financial entities to finally enter this space en mass. Last but not least, the ten year anniversary for Bitcoin. It has been called a scam, ponzi scheme, fad, etc. It has been declared dead by economists and journalists hundreds of times since arriving in 2008. None of them seem deterred in this rhetoric despite it still being in existence and worth thousands of dollars per coin. The older it gets, the less relevant these so called analysts become.
