If we look throughout history we can find plenty of examples of overt slavery and in some parts of the world it still exists. Today I want to discuss the more subtle forms of slavery that people seem to not only accept and allow, but generally excuse in the name of convenience. Personally I feel we are all equally responsible for allowing these things unless we stop allowing them and resist the entire system. So what are some of these "subtle" forms of slavery that seem to fly under the radar?
The first and most obvious to me is wage slavery. I believe a lot of this problem is being perpetuated by the fact that many of us never knew any other way of existence. We're born into a world where all the land has already been claimed and most of the monetary wealth system is controlled by a tiny percent of the population. Many people spend their lives trying to get ahead in the system that exists and never really consider that there could be a better way to live. Simply stop participating in the system and become self reliant.
The other major subtle form of slavery that seems more apparent than wage slavery is oppression by law. We are born into a system and given a number to identify ourselves within a system of government that we never had any say in creating nor are we given a choice in citizenship. If you look at the facts, we are essentially viewed as livestock by a giant corporation that we are told is a government. Our "purpose" is to feed the machine and cause as little trouble in the process as possible. We are forced to feed the machine through taxation and we are kept in check by laws we didn't agree to or create. I encounter others that try to justify this system and I'll explain my reasoning of why I refuse to now.
Many people will argue that the system keeps us safe or some other form of complacent slave mindset. If you honestly don't know the difference between right and wrong those laws are simply illusions and you won't follow them anyway. I am not against all laws, I simply think all laws should be based off one simple principal: Do not impose upon the freewill of another. This would mean that things like robbery and murder are illegal as well as things like charging citizens for the right to own property or build a home. Essentially I believe that we have far too may laws and most of them boil down to funding a government machine that I never agreed to and their combined purpose is to subtly make the word "citizen" a synonym for "cattle" or "livestock." Which country has the best and most valuable livestock, I wonder. Namaste.
