I'll be the first to admit that I don't really do much planning. I prefer to be more in the moment and it feels like things are much more genuine and authentic that way, like there is no premeditation or agenda. Perhaps this is something that I need to work on to some extent and I could have maybe over corrected when I was learning how to be more authentic and in the moment.

It's not like I'm incapable of making a plan or committing to anything, so it's sort of difficult to really describe this tendency as a problem per say, but it creates some challenging dynamics with interacting with others I suppose. A prime example of this is my buddy mfxae86@mfxae86, who regularly comes on my philosophy show, will often ask if we have anything particular to discuss or focus on. The answer is pretty much always some variation of "we'll just go with it."

I can appreciate greatly when people can just go with the flow like that and perhaps it's a little annoying to me when I feel like people are nagging me about details of things that I feel are kind of irrelevant. Sometimes I'll try to loosely choose a theme and it's more or less just a starting point for a conversation and it will carry on from there. Honestly, I'm just not really sure being flexible and not limiting things by my own expectations and assumptions is something I can really see as a problem personally.

Even considering that myself and some friends are planning a meetup in less than two weeks and we have literally nothing planned other than days we'll be in town and a place to stay, this doesn't bother me at all. Perhaps it's all just my perspective, but things seem to be much more enjoyable and easy going when I don't try to control things or other people. I don't feel any need for an itinerary as I feel it's just sort of limiting and makes things feel like they have to go a certain sort of way.

All of that being said, perhaps I should look to ways that some gentle guidance and planning on things while maintaining my own sense of flexibility could be beneficial. It could prevent things like rehashing old topics and similar discussions on the philosophy show. So tonight, I'm going to have some talking points for Cope and myself and we can see how that goes. We're both on a very similar frequency when it comes to our adaptability and detachment from expectations, so the worst case scenario is we just forget about it I suppose. Either way, hope to see you guys tonight! Namaste.

Topics for show tonight

  • Why we feel the need to be "a better person" and how we deal with it.
  • Learned Helplessness
