It‘s time for a complete overhaul of our approach to cleaning our home. All those expensive cleaning products, laundry detergent, dish soap and even floor cleaners, can easily be replaced with natural, homemade products. So today we continue the series by sharing more hints and tips on how to do everyday chores in an inexpensive alternative natural way.
GENERAL ODOURS:
Kitchen Sink
Wipe down the entire sink with undiluted vinegar, (great for removing water spots too) then pour one cup of vinegar down the drain. Wait one hour before rinsing.
Rugs and Carpets
Sprinkle your rugs or carpets with baking soda. Wait at least 15 minutes, a little would be longer is better, then vacuum.
Refrigerator
To prevent odours in your refrigerator, place an open container of baking soda inside. Change it every three months. You can also sprinkle baking soda in the crisper drawers and cover it with a paper towel. Renew every three months.
Laundry
Stubborn smells in your laundry? Try adding 1 cup of baking soda to the next load. It helps to brighten your whites as well as getting rid of the smell.
OIL STAINS ON CEMENT
How do you remove oil stains from your driveway or garage floor? Easy! Cover the stain with Coca Cola and allow it to sit for a minute. Using a brush, scrub a little and then wipe it clean.
OVEN CLEANER
With a damp rag and vinegar, clean any surface grease. Sprinkle salt on spills. Leave it for a few minutes, then gently scrape off the residue and wipe the area clean. For more stubborn spots, sprinkle baking soda on the spots and rub gently with slightly moist steel wool
