Some time ago, I opined that love on its own is not and will never be enough to keep or sustain a marriage. This is my personal opinion and i could be wrong tho experience has proven me to be right.
A lot of people stay in abusive relationships just because they love their partners or they're scared of what awaits them if they eventually get to leave. Emotional abuse is as dangerous as physical abuse, if not worse. Having to stick with a person who clearly has no regards for your feelings is the height of recklessness in a union.
We don't and can't hurt the people we love. Most times, we know the truth about what we're into but loves clouds our sense of judgement. I have female friends who chosed their life partners only on the premise of love and they've spent a greater part of that union regretting that decision.
Love ruins things. When we stop considering love when making decisions, we'll see things in a more broader and objective perspective and the results will show.
We all deserve better. Dont let the fear of being single or lonely, or think you might not find another person you'll love as much, make you stick in a marriage where you're the only one giving a 100%. If your partner ain't giving the same, then you're clearly heading down the drain. 98% cannot be enough. It can only be enough when you both are giving the same.
You owe yourself a duty to be happy. Don't put your happiness in the hands of a mortal. All you'll get is pain. Love yourself first and only then will you be able to set a standard as to what you deserve.
