I am so happy to have picked up a project that I've been meaning to work on for.... years! .... and got it all fixed in a couple of hours yesterday!
My best rucksack has been in my life since I think around 2004, when my mum was visiting me in Scotland from Canada - and gifted me some money to buy a new one, as the old one was irrepairable.
So it has been used regularly for over 18 years: not bad! This is the first time I've gone over every seam and zip in it, and done an extensive repair job... thought I'd have to replace the zip, but found it had some crafty fibres blocked in the teeth, which just needed detangling! Joy!
Various seams needed reinforcing, and the elastic from the front (for holding things tight against the front - like a jacket when hillwalking) needed replaced as the stretch had gone from it. I had to use two slightly different guage elastics and join them with elaborate stitching; hope it holds!
I put the rucksack in the washing machine and am excited to use it again for the first time: feels like a new rucksack!
Love making old things like new again: it's one of the most satisfying activities in life, for me! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Blessings on your needlework today!
Clare.
