We spent the early morning and then the afternoon and evening yesterday, working on our new house. At last the word came from the owner's daughter, that all he needs is a big roll of yellow hose, and a pair of loppers that we had rescued from abandonment... Everything else we can have/ deal with... and I've never been so excited about a pile of old junk!

The almost-two-years that vincentnijman@vincentnijman and I have been (physically!) together, have been consistently chaotic and unsettling - which now doesn't feel like such a big deal, because we have these proper spaces to inhabit, this funky farmhouse set-up that we're already up to our knees in. Despite having felt near the end of our whits, and myself genuinely rather ill with the makeshift accomodation up until now (which is entirely unsuitable for all but a few months of the year) we are already sensing the joy-full permanence of this brand-new situation.

We'd begun clandestinely edging closer and closer to ownership; taking a few animal cages away from the quaint front of the house, clearing a ton of brambles from a glorious variety of fruit and nut trees, snipping away at high grasses in the orto here and there. But suddenly WE ARE IN, and the 6 rooms are half cleared already 😍🥰💝❤️‍🔥🪷 and there's alchemy in the air... We can picture exactly where everything will go, the purposes of each room, having guests, the breakfast bar in the courtyard....

It is the most ripe and dynamic of moments, and we are buzzing with anticipation, all of our creative forces honed into this pigsty, chicken room and hay loft!

As the low evening sun set over the Abruzzo mountains to the north of us, it created gorgeous ripples up the brickwork walls from our buckets of water thrown in: now it was kilos lighter of pig waste and cobwebs. The removed planks from the window (that looks down in the orto/ veggie gardens) poured in the buttery evening glow, and leant itself very nicely to imagining our new bathroom giá fatto 🥰

We're champing at the bit to get ready and do more this fine morning 💫 And we were so very much more relaxed falling into the tent last night, knowing that before too long we might even have a new - proper - bedroom!!

Aaah, thank the heavens that we made it this far, and that we have the prospect of an actually-functioning building to live in relatively soon.

Keep an eye out for new updates: Vincent and I will have plenty to share about in the coming weeks - including an inspiring new set of tiers on our Patreon (at) thegoedlife 💝

With Love!
