Ciao dear DIY friends,

This is one of my favourite baskets, which I use almost daily. It has been weakened by over-use... and some woodworm!

I used a big darning needle, and some string remnants, and just worked with where I could get the needle to fit through the weave.

It was a pleasant process, some of which I did whilst enjoying a cuppa at the bar and chatting with a friend 😍

I love things like this; the satisfaction of repairing something by listening to the materials and working spontaneously and intuitively.

Feeling the basket handle stiffen up and eventually become solid again, after a few hours needling away... Taking my mind off of worries about a close family member in her final stages of terrible illness.... Allowing the #domesticalchemy to carry me into a better state of peace.

Now I can pop up to the shop on Via Roma, fill my basket, and not have to carry it back down the steep marble steps using both arms - now I can swing it gaily by my side!

🥰

Good wishes to you all in your homemade ventures!

Clare.
